NiMH batteries have the same memory effect as NiCd batteries. Therefore, periodic discharge management is also necessary. This cumbersome discharge management is unavoidable when using nickel metal hydride batteries. Lithium-ion batteries are relatively easy to use because they have no memory effect at all.
